Dr. Cook’s Diversified Ag class took food safety to the next level! Students perfected proper handwashing techniques to ensure top-notch sanitation, then had some fun whipping up edible slime. A perfect mix of learning and laughs — everyone had a blast!

Houston CTE Health Science students in Mrs. Myatt’s class presented research on non-profit healthcare organizations like the American Red Cross, St. Jude, and local clinics. They learned how these groups impact communities and gained insight into the importance of non-profits in the healthcare system.

Shoutout to Olivia Keith in Mr. Picken’s welding class! She’s sharpening her skills by welding hinges onto a trailer gate—turning classroom lessons into real-world application.


Mr. Black’s Electrical students put their skills to work by replacing and repairing lights in the CTE building. They applied what they’ve learned in class to a real-world project—gaining hands-on experience for their future careers!




Mrs. Griffin’s Health Science students practiced peer mock interviews today—building confidence, improving communication skills, and preparing for future careers!





Mrs. Stroup’s Educator Prep students showed off their creativity by designing and creating a bulletin board for our CTE hallways. Love seeing their talents on display!




Health Science I students in Mrs. Myatt’s class have been exploring future career options in the health science field. Each student researched a career that interests them, created a PowerPoint presentation, and presented their findings to classmates. Great job to these students for learning more about the many opportunities available in the health science pathway!


Houston CTE students learned about the importance of farm safety today through the Farm Bureau’s Farm Safety Program. Students gained valuable knowledge on equipment use, livestock precautions, and emergency response. A big thank you to Benton Mosely from Farm Bureau for taking the time to share these lessons with our students!


Houston CTE welcomed Houston Fire Chief Jonathan Blankenship to speak with students about the importance of fire safety, from preventing fires at home and school to knowing how to respond in an emergency. He also covered topics such as checking smoke alarms, using fire extinguishers, the dangers of smoke inhalation, and career opportunities in the fire service. We appreciate Chief Blankenship for taking the time to share his knowledge and experience with our students.
