A big thank you to the Town of Woodland for our new flags outside of Houston Lower Elementary! They have given us a new American flag and a Mississippi Flag. We appreciate it so much.

We want to give a BIG thank you to Walmart in Houston for helping give back to our schools. Thanks to Mr. Horton for getting us in touch with Walmart to make this happen. Houston Lower Elementary K-2 science students will use this money for projects in our outdoor butterfly garden!

Today was an exciting day for our students at Houston Lower! We held our first school-wide assembly of the school year. Students learned about the three R's and what each one means. They met our School Resource Officer, Ms. Linda Griffin, and Mrs. Tedder gave them a quick tour of our shopping cart, where they can shop with their Topper Tokens. We have had the best first week, and we can't wait for the rest of our school year!
Today, some of our first graders got to help say our morning announcements with Mrs. Naugle! This privilege is given when students move their clips all the way up our behavior ladder! Help us tell them good job for working so hard.

HLES would like to thank our PTO for providing breakfast, lunch, and snacks last week to help kick off our school year! We have enjoyed all of these goodies.
