Houston Lower Elementary School

HLES would like to give a big thank-you to our PTO for providing an apple bar. It was delicious and an awesome start to our week! Thank you!

Congratulations to our September teacher of the month, Ms. April McMullen, and our staff member of the month, Mrs. Kailey Dendy. HLES is blessed to have both of these ladies on our team! #HLES #WhereLearningBegins

HLES would like to thank all of our SROs for coming and speaking to our students about what adaptability means. Adaptability will be the character trait that we focus on for November. Our SROs did a fantastic job explaining this trait to our students. Thank you for pouring into our schools! #HLES #WhereLearningBegins

Today has been a busy day for our Tiny Toppers! We had our October Student of the Month assembly this morning. Our October character trait was "Leadership." Super job to these students for being great leaders inside their classroom and out 🎉

🍬🍭 HLES TREAT WALK – WE NEED YOUR HELP! 🍭🍬

Our Treat Walk is almost here, and we are running a little short on candy! 🎃

We want to make sure all of our students have a fun and exciting experience, so we are asking our wonderful HLES families to help us out!

If you are able, please send in an additional bag or two of individually wrapped candy. Every donation, big or small, will help us make this event special for our students! Students will also receive 10 Topper Tokens for each bag donated.

❤️ Thank you for always supporting HLES and helping us make wonderful memories for our little Toppers! 🐏

We appreciate you! 🍬❤️

HLES students from Mrs. Weaver's and Mrs. Salazar's classes enjoyed a day of fun games, horse riding, and interactive activities at the 26th annual Frankie's Fall Fun Day. Thank you to all volunteers and organizers for helping make this such an inclusive, fun event for our students and their families.

Our Butterfly Garden at HLES may not have butterflies yet, but it is ready for Fall!! Mrs. Patti Pettit in Woodland helped us with decorations, and the students have loved seeing them through the windows in the cafeteria. Our students and Ms. Shalaura McKinney have also been working hard to get our planters filled up. We can't wait to see all the progress to come.

We are excited to be hosting our 2nd Annual Miss Merry Mistletoe Pageant on Thursday, December 10. Forms are being sent home, but you can also pick one up from Houston Lower Elementary or Houston Middle School.

High school students led a lesson in Mrs. Adams' kindergarten class on germs and the importance of washing our hands. #HLES #WhereLearningBegins
