In remembrance of 9/11 our BM&F students researched and presented how the events of September 11, 2001, affected both the U.S. and global economies. Students explored changes in airlines and tourism, insurance, government spending, national security, rebuilding efforts, and international trade. This meaningful lesson connected history to economics while strengthening students’ research, communication, and presentation skills. 🇺🇸📊
Mrs. Moss' Business, Marketing, and Finance class kicked off their Economics Unit with a hands-on lesson about goods and services!

🦠🔬 Mrs. Myatt’s Health Science students have been getting a close-up look at infectious disease and bacteria through a hands-on experiment!
Students collected swab samples from different areas around campus—from toilets and the bottoms of shoes to cell phones and more. They then placed the samples in containers and have been observing what grows from each swab over time.
It’s been an interesting way for students to see firsthand just how much bacteria can be found on the everyday surfaces around us!

Anna Beth Robertson spoke with our Health Science, Business, Marketing & Finance, and Law & Public Safety students this week about her experience as a firefighter with the Starkville Fire Department. She shared insight into the daily responsibilities of a firefighter, emergency response, teamwork, safety, career opportunities, and the importance of serving your community.

Mrs. Griffin’s Healthcare and Clinical Services students are preparing for success! Students are sharpening their interview skills through peer-to-peer mock interviews as they prepare for interviews later this week. This hands-on practice gives students the opportunity to build confidence, strengthen communication skills, and practice presenting themselves professionally to potential employers.
Coach Kendall’s Engineering students are hard at work using SolidWorks to design and create a part that will be brought to life using a 3D printer! It’s great to see their hard work, creativity, and engineering skills in action!
Mrs. Ramage’s Principles of Agriculture students are researching the top agricultural commodities of their assigned states. Students will use this information to build a foundation of knowledge as they begin exploring the different sectors of the agriculture industry.

Mrs. Myatt and Mrs. Griffin’s Health Science students teamed up with Mr. Montgomery’s class to share what they’ve been learning about wounds and proper wound care. It was a great opportunity to apply their knowledge and connect with other students!
The Diversified Agriculture, Construction, and Engineering programs recently partnered with the Chickasaw Development Foundation to support a community beautification project at the Tanglefoot Trailhead. Students contributed by designing, building, and painting birdhouses, showcasing their skills while giving back to the community.

Houston FFA traveled to Decatur for the State Land Judging Contest last week, and we couldn’t be more proud of our members and their hard work.
