Anchor

Do More. Care More. Be More.

Through dedicated volunteer service programs and leadership-building opportunities, Anchor Clubs strive to instill these six specific, valuable qualities and characteristics in today's young people, enabling them to "Be More" every day.

Braylen Burdine and Miriam Garner

MS is Being Led by HHS

Braylen Burdine and her Anchor Sponsor Miriam Garner have been installed as officers of the Mississippi District for Anchor and Pilot.

Braylen was elected last year as the MS District President Elect. At this year's convention she was installed as the President. She will lead over 20 clubs with over 1,000 members in Mississippi. This summer she will be the MS representative at the Anchor International Leadership Summit in Nashville, TN. This year is special because not only will Braylen be serving as Anchor President, but her Anchor Sponsor, Miriam Garner, will be serving as the MS District Pilot Governor. Each year the HHS Anchor Club and Student Council host a Veteran's Day Program that not only include our students but also local veterans and community. The Pilot Club of Houston hosts a reception for veterans prior to the program where they can sit and talk to the kids and each other. This year we had the honor of Congressmen Trent Kelly coming to address the assembly.  He honored and described what i meant to be a veteran and how we should always honor their sacrifice to protect our freedom.

We also enjoy helping with any town project. The pavilion at the park needed painting, so we jumped in to help get it done.

Alderman Tony Uhiren gathered what we needed and we provided the muscle to get it looking better! It was a fun day that didn't take too long cause we all worked together!

Cinderella Ball

Cinderella Ball

One of our favorite events is the Annual Father/Daughter Dance. This is a fundraiser for the HHS Anchor Club, but it is so much more than a fundraiser...we absolutely love playing with the girls and helping fathers make a memory to last a lifetime!
