Students in Mrs. Peters’ and Coach Uhiren’s Foundations of Biology classes brought science to life with an Edible DNA Lab!
Using candy and toothpicks, students worked together to construct DNA models while exploring its structure, base pairing, and how genetic information is organized.

The Houston High School History Club had a great time at our game night last night! Students spent the evening playing Spoons and UNO No Mercy, eating pizza, and hanging out with friends. We had a great turnout and enjoyed getting everyone together outside of the regular school day. Thanks to everyone who came out and made it a fun night!

Science came to life in Mrs. Brandon’s Biology classroom! Our students explored cell membrane concepts through a fun, hands-on SOAP BUBBLE LAB! 🫧
Using soap films to model cell membranes, students discovered how membranes are flexible, fluid, and capable of self-repair!
At Houston High School, we believe learning goes beyond textbooks! When students can SEE science in action, they develop a deeper understanding of the concepts being taught!

One of our favorite traditions at Houston High School is our annual pep rally at Floy Dyer Nursing Home! Our Hilltoppers always enjoy the opportunity to bring a little school spirit, excitement, and plenty of smiles to these special residents!
At HHS, we believe education extends far beyond the walls of a classroom. It is extremely important that our students build meaningful relationships within our community, learn the value of serving others, and understand the impact they can make in someone’s life. These experiences teach lessons about kindness, compassion, respect, and giving back that cannot be measured by a test score.
We love our friends at Floy Dyer Nursing Home and are thankful for the opportunity to continue this special tradition each year!
Being a Hilltopper is about more than what we accomplish inside our school. It’s about the difference we make outside of it!

Houston High School was excited to welcome Mr. Keshon Bynum, photographer, videographer, and owner of KonnectEdit and Konnect Media, as our Workforce Wednesday Career Café guest speaker! Mr. Bynum also had the opportunity to speak with students in Ms. Raines' U.S. History classes.
Mr. Bynum shared his journey from high school student to successful business owner, delivering a powerful message about mindset, discipline, personal growth, and taking action!
One message that stood out was:
💬 "What you think about matters, and what you do about it matters more."
He reminded students that their future is too important to leave to chance, that small daily decisions lead to big results, and that success requires more than inspiration—it requires ACTION!
👏 Thank you, Mr. Bynum, for investing your time, sharing your experiences, and pouring such positive energy into our students! Your message reinforced something we believe strongly at HHS: Success doesn't happen by accident. It happens through hard work, determination, and a willingness to get better every day!

The Houston High School History Club had a great time at our Game Night last Tuesday! Students came together for an evening of games, snacks, laughter, and friendly competition. It was a wonderful opportunity for club members to spend time together outside the classroom, build friendships, and enjoy some well deserved fun.
Ms. Swanson's Creative Writing class is getting into poetry 🪶📜 Students participated in a "Poetry Tasting" where groups rotated between 5 different poems looking for figurative language, text structure, and overall meaning of the poems. #ExpectSuccess
