Houston High School is proud to have TWO students selected to serve on the 2026–2027 Mississippi State Superintendent’s Student Advisory Council! Senior Thad Garner returns for his second year on the council, while junior Summer Britt joins as a newly selected member.
Throughout the year, Summer and Thad will meet with students from across Mississippi and provide valuable student perspectives directly to State Superintendent Dr. Lance Evans on issues impacting public education. Their first meeting will be held at the Mississippi State Capitol on October 14.
We are incredibly proud of these two Hilltoppers for earning the opportunity to represent HHS and our community at the state level! 👏🤍❤️

We are excited to celebrate our Toppers for their outstanding academic achievements during the 2025–2026 school year! The HHS PACE Awards will be held Friday, October 2nd, in the HHS Auditorium, with current Juniors & Seniors recognized at 8:15 a.m. and current Sophomores at 9:00 a.m.
📩 Please note: Only students receiving an award will receive an invitation and attend the ceremony. Invitations will be sent home with students this week.

Today was the first day of our Senior Buddy Program at Houston Upper Elementary this year, and we couldn’t be more excited about what’s ahead!
Our HHS seniors are investing in our Tiny Toppers by serving as mentors, role models, and encouragers. This program is about more than spending time together—it’s about building relationships, strengthening our school community, and showing our younger students what it means to work hard, lead well, and take pride in being a Hilltopper.

Our students have officially started the process of decorating the halls for Homecoming, and they aren’t wasting any time! We’re still over a WEEK away, but the dedication, creativity, and school spirit are already on full display! 👏🔥

Five Houston High School juniors had the opportunity to attend Monroe County Aviation Day on September 9th! Our students explored the many exciting career opportunities available in the aviation industry and got an up-close look at several different types of aircraft. 🛩️
Experiences like this help our students see beyond the classroom, explore future career paths, and discover opportunities they may have never considered before.
